Ambarish Saha is a social entrepreneur and philanthropist, best known for founding Shoishob – A Foundation for Children, which focuses on helping underprivileged children, women, and marginalized communities in India, particularly in West Bengal and Manipur. He has a diverse background, having studied in Kathmandu and pursued Hotel Management from IIHM Kolkata, followed by a Bachelor’s degree from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.
Before founding Shoishob, Ambarish built a successful career in the corporate sector, working for 25 years in prominent companies like Wipro and HCL in New Delhi and Gurgaon. However, his experiences in Kolkata in 2017, witnessing the severe poverty and the plight of people in West Bengal, deeply moved him. This motivated him to shift gears and focus on addressing these social challenges in a more direct and impactful way.
Ambarish’s mission with Shoishob is to support and uplift vulnerable communities, especially children and women, through education, job creation, and empowerment initiatives. His foundation currently supports over 400 children and has created more than 70 jobs, predominantly for women, across several regions of West Bengal and Manipur. Shoishob operates five units: four in West Bengal (Naktala, New Barrakpore, Paschim Medinipur, and Sundarban) and one in Churachandpur, Manipur.
Ambarish’s vision is clear: to create long-term, positive change by empowering communities, providing livelihoods, and enhancing access to education and opportunities for those who need it most.
